Thank you for playing such a wonderful show at Lydney, my first The Watch gig. I had heard so much about your band and had such high expectations that I thought that I might be disappointed. No chance! The only disappointment was the small audience but everyone loved the music and we will be spreading the word. Next time you play in the UK, I would like to help to promote your shows, as you deserve a much bigger audience. I bought Vacuum and Primitive, plus a tee shirt on the night. Thank you for the inspired and fantastic show at Rotherham on Saturday 17th May: The band sounded beautiful, and the use of your own sound man on the PA allowed all the music to be heard properly. It was a great show and Berlin 1936 and Vacuum were true highlights. I will listen to all my Watch cds (plus the Nightwatch CD too) with good memories of a vintage night!

I grew up on the prog sound..Genesis, Yes, Gentle Giant, King Crimson etc. I'm so glad someone is keeping it alive. I miss that sound. Radio today sucks. You guys have great songs. I always wanted to be in a band like yours. It hard to find the right players. Keep it up.

I discovered your band accidently reading about you in the press in Norway regarding your second album review. I then heard the album and I was thrilled and addicted. I now am the proud owner of all the 3 albums and I love it. Your music is the only music I hear now everywere I go (in my car, at work and home) and I play for all my friends. You guys are genious. I am a huge Genesis fan, but you guys play even greater music than they played in the 70's. I attended the Musical Box's consert last time they visited Norway, and by supporting them, I think is a huge step fior you commercially. Please keep up the good work. I am a sworn fan!!!

Lots of mellotron and organs, tasteful guitars, and terrific & tricky time signatures and tempo changes. And while so many newer prog bands suffer from weak singing, The Watch features awesome lead vocals that are indeed very similar to Peter Gabriel. As an added plus, compared with early Genesis, the music is much better recorded, and it packs a satisfying dramatic punch. Great band, There's alot of warmth, beauty and emotion in the songs. Highly recommended!

I was turned on to your music listening to Morow.com. I have been a Genesis and prog fan for many, many years so when I heard Simone's voice my ears pricked up. The more of your music I heard the more I wanted to hear. I purchased Vacuum and Primative and listened to them over and over. Even though I initially thought of Genesis when I first heard The Watch, now I see The Watch as a strong and passionate group that can stand on it's own and I hope will continue to write and record for years to come.

Its great to see that so much brilliant progressive rock music is happening over seas. Australia is very backward - we only hear top 40 commercial music, pub rock and country music. the Industry does not want us to know other forms of music even exist.

hi,just to say well done on primative,just heard your samples on here.although most reviewers keep relating to genesis when describing your sounds,i disagree,yes structually your music reminds me of how genesis put together songs and music and to me your singer sounds more like cyrus out of citizen cain than peter gabriel,i dont believe you ever intended to copy genesis.when i heard your first album,i was unaware or the genesis hype that was being banded around,so i was able to make my own mind up without being influenced by other reviewers my first thought was,wow,this is the progressive sound that i grew up with,original vocals,great guitar solos,effective drumming and lush keyboards,the feeling i got was the same when i first discovered,genesis,early seventies, marillion and i/Q,early eighties,clepsydra late nineties and of course yourselves early 2000.what i am trying to say is you have your own unique sound in much the same way as the afore mentioned groups had and have.primative to me is how you wanted your first album to sound,am i correct.if thats so then you have succeeded more so than any other neo prog-group in the world to-date.by the way i am a great lover of the melotron,i have met two of the bradley bros of streetly electronics of birmingham,many years ago.a third of my cd collection contains melotron one way or another.from what little i have heard of primative,you have done the 400 proud.i have to say this,i think italians are masters at producing great symphonic progressive sounds,past and present musicians both.us brits may have introduced it,but you guys took it to heart and in a lot of cases improved on it and kept it alive and well for decades. just one thing,where the blazes do i get a copy of primative,in the uk.cheers peter.aka.novatron.

Hi. I was checking out Subtacto and found out that Watch will play in Oslo in the near future. I know it is impossible for you to change Maiden's policy, so that people under 20 years of age are allowed to your show. I can only say that I will be grateful if the band ever in some way consider to come back. Then do just that. I will now check out the rest of your music other than prog-archives.com. Lots of synths and stuff. + a totally awsome vocal. I wouldn't thought it wasen't Peter Gabriel, if i didn't allready knew that.

It is really a relief for me that there is still geat musicians that are aware of the early prog-rock teachings! For me, it's better to live with the shadow of the great Genesis-Gabriel era sound than to line up with the trend of the late metal-progers who try to follow Dream Theater's footsteps! Anyway, listening to The Watch brings back to mind that people like Camel, Gentle Giant and the early Genesis "quintet" would produce awesome recordings with today's studio technologie, because it's just that what you guys do! Don't listen to all the crap that is written about the Watch. Genesis has never written anything that comes close to this music. Compared to the Watch Genesis is just simple and predictable, except some older work like on the "Live"-album.

Wow. Your show this past Saturday night in Lowell, Massachusetts was truly beyond description. I went with little preparation, perhaps listening to both Vacuum and Ghost a total of 4-6 times. The show was a well-oiled machine, with all members extremely solid and very well mixed. Having a dedicated P/A system in the club provided the baseline for fantastic sound . . . and you guys certainly delivered ! ! ! Please, please return at some point to the Boston area, and best of luck an any future travels and endeavours in this regard. Sound great! You should come to Gävle in Sweden and play with us in the spring, a small prog "festival" called live-ARGH. I have a Mellotron, and a friend of mine have a Hammond and Mini-moog and ARP synthezisers, so you wouldn't need to carry all these things it. Genesis-lovers I suppose? We could come to Italy too, but we're not that good yet...

As the proud owner of Ghost, Vacuum and also the Night Watch release Twilight, I just wanted to thank you and congratulate you for the wonderful music on these three albums! As a big Genesis fan for over thirty years you have, more than any other band I know of, managed to capture the magic of that style within a modern context. I can easily forgive your production company for the spelling mistake of the band's name on the Vacuum cover ;o) as every other aspect of that album is a ten out of ten!

Just saw The Watch at ROSfest in Phoenixville, PA. OMG! What an excellent show! I had heard the band's CDs before going to the show but there is nothing like seeing them live. My sincerest thanks to the band for coming to ROSfest! I wished they could have kept playing all night! And especially THANK YOU to Fabio for giving me a real treat by playing the intro to Firth of Fifth on the baby grand piano on the lower level of the Sheraton Hotel Sunday night! (Monday morning, actually!) Hopefully I will get another opportunity to see them in the near future... Cheers!

When I discovered the group The Watch in 2005, thanks to Paul Herlitschka, the first listening of "Vacuum" was a great followed revelation of a shock question: "How it is possible to as well understand the universe of Genesis without copying them?". In December 2005, I have make 600 km to go to see them in concert in Switzerland: ridges in more or less that me, but ridges them!

I had never heard any of their music before, but it was described to me as sounding like Genesis. Well, it certainly does. In fact, their music sounds exactly what Genesis would sound like today if Peter Gabriel had never left the band and they kept recording the same type of music they had in the '70's. The Watch is not a tribute band of any sort, but have just totally adopted the classic Genesis sound. This is especially true of vocalist Simone Rossetti, who sounds so much like Gabriel that you could close you eyes and convince yourself you're listening to previously unreleased Genesis tracks. Obviously, your enjoyment of The Watch will depend on whether or not you're a fan of old Genesis, so since I'm a huge fan of that era of music, I found the set by The Watch to be very entertaining, full of epic old-style prog goodness. Some may think that perhaps the band should take this style as a base and expand upon it, but for now it seems they're perfectly happy sticking their Genesis-inspired roots.

The Watch did remind me of early Genesis as folks had suggested, butthat's fine, I love early Genesis too. They played a fine show, and there were some really nice songs in there. I scooped up the complete package deal from the merchandise desk for about five euros or whatever 35 dollars is worth these days.

I previously knew little of this band, and had not heard anything by them. I thought that they were a Genesis cover band. Was I wrong! The singer "was" Gabriel, in mannerisms and superb voice. Throughout the show I felt as if their songs were just the tunes that the original guys didn't have time to record - Wow! The band had the chops to have played anything but stayed very much in character of 70's Genesis, no un-needed shredding but really impressive musicianship. The only cover - Get Em Out By Friday – was a perfect choice and sounded great. For the final encore I expected another cover, but was happier with their original song - it felt appropriate that the last song wasn't a cover since they may be emulating Genesis but were not imitating them. They were deservedly the headliners for the weekend.

Just returned from a sensational show by The Watch. I was not disappointed, they were simply amazing. Standing ovations, and encores.. The crowd did not want them to stop - especially after their cover of Get 'Em Out by Friday. It seems the audience caused them to run out of material, as they left us with a second run of Shiny Bald Heads. The sounds & lights were perfect.. great job!

Hi all! ROSfest was great throughout the entire weekend!! I picked up a copy of the live "bootleg" and a t-shirt that I will wear proudly. The Watch was fantastic! My only complaint was the short set. They were scheduled to play 2 1/2 hours and the show before the encores was only a little over an hour. The ROSfest crowd seems to surprise a lot of the performers. We are a very wild, friendly and hospitable bunch of intensely dedicated progressive rock fanatics. We appreciate that wonderful bands continue to come to us every spring. In answer to Paul's question, the theater holds a little over 500 people and was just shy of a sell-out. We sound off like thousands though! My photos from the weekend will be on my website in a few days and I will post the link here when they are available.

Now, the theatrical act - The Watch from Italy. They were the last act of Rosfest and you can't get away with seeing them and not feeling the heavy influence from Gabriel-era Genesis. They even perform on stage similarly to them. The music sounds a lot like early Genesis as well. I think that's OK because they (unlike Musical Box) are writing their own material in that style. I for one really like theatre on stage with prog bands so I really was getting into it. Simon, the lead singer wore makeup and was very interesting to watch while the rest of the band played on. The musicianship was quite good but people unfamilar with their music might have a hard time understanding all the changes. I don't think that is bad. I'll be playing a lot of their music on the station so hopefully people will familiarize themselves to this great progressive rock band. I believe that they will have a big following. This was their first gig in the US. The music was excellent although I would have liked to hear the guitarist a bit better during the show. I'll sum it up by saying that their music is pretty good, their stage act is great and early Genesis fans will love them.

The final and headlining act for Sunday, from Italy, was The Watch. I might as well have gotten into a time machince which brought me back to 1973. These five talented musicians are the resurrection of the early Gabriel era Genesis to the T.Mellotron, Moog, flute, tambourine, the whole shooting match. This is no Musical Box or Trespass, these guys are the real thing. All original music. Simone Rossetti has Gabriel's voice. Sounds exactly like Peter from the early 70's, and the moves to pull it off on his own terms. Everyone is fully under control and in place with their playing, bring the sum of their playing to greatness without any need for individualism. I mean the guitarist and bass player are even sitting in chairs while playing on one tune. This band is clearly an example of the sum being greater than its parts. Some of today's prog fans might not fully relate to their effort, especially the female fans because this is down to earth, early prog, and having seen Genesis over twenty times, I can remember there were not too many gals at the early Genesis shows, heck not until after 1979 when they began their transformation. This is Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot sounding music, and if you like that style of music, these are the guys. Just for fun, and for a treat, they played Get'em Out By Friday and I was truly back in time. What a great way to end the festival.
